Remember when you said that if you heard one more person say “digital transformation,” you were going to punch them in the nose?

Well, that’s no way to get ahead. And besides, we’re going to say “digital transformation” — not just to tick you off, but because it’s a way to describe the tremendous disruption in retail that’s been going on for some time now.

It sounds a lot better than “retail apocalypse.”

We’re not buying the whole apocalypse thing, though things are looking pretty apocalyptic for some. (We’re looking at you Toys R Us. Hey, Sears. Wipe that smile off your face.)

Instead, some retailers are not being nimble enough in adjusting to a rapidly changing world. While others are. The adjusters will come out on the other side — different, but better off.
